Courtney Hotchkiss

PT-REPAIR project, Antarctica

Courtney Hotchkiss is a postdoctoral researcher on the PT-REPAIR project funded by the Dutch Research Council (NWO), and based at North Carolina State University, USA. She majored in World Heritage Studies (MA) and Parks, Recreation & Tourism Management (PhD). Her doctoral research was with the US National Park Service and associated Tribal Nations developing a prioritization framework for archaeological sites/traditional landscapes impacted by climate change. Her current research focuses on the characteristics of tour guides in polar regions and the description of wilderness values in Antarctica so that they can be mapped and monitored. She hopes to become more involved in the formation of the tourism framework for Antarctica, and was introduced to initial discussions at the 2024 Antarctica Treaty Consultative Meeting as a delegate for IUCN.
